On May 22nd, global cosmetics ODM leader COSMAX announced it has secured approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for a mask sheet product with officially recognized “skin barrier function improvement” efficacy—the first such approval for a mask sheet in Korea.
COSMAX’s newly developed multifunctional mask sheet offers wrinkle reduction, whitening benefits, and skin barrier recovery all in one product. This marks the first time a sheet-type cosmetic has been certified for its skin barrier function in the country.
Until now, functional approval for skin barrier improvement has mainly been granted to ampoules and creams, with no mask sheet formulations receiving such recognition.
COSMAX highlighted that they meticulously compiled scientific evidence—including clinical efficacy and safety data—tailored to the unique nature of mask sheet formulations to satisfy the stringent approval requirements.
The product’s development was realized through a joint effort between COSMAX’s newly established PM (pack mask) lab and its regulatory research team last year.
Looking ahead, COSMAX aims to broaden its research and development of functional cosmetics across diverse formulations.
