The FDA has tracked a Listeria outbreak to certain ready-to-eat foods. Here’s what you need to know about the recall and how to stay safe.
Dozens of Ready-to-Eat Foods Recalled Over Listeria Concerns
The FDA has linked a recent Listeria outbreak to ready-to-eat foods, prompting a large recall of products sold across multiple states. The recall affects various sandwiches, snack boxes, and pastas.
Which Foods Are Affected?
Fresh & Ready Foods recalled 86 products, including sandwiches, snacks, and pastas, which are sold under three brands:
- Fresh & Ready Foods
- City Point Market Fresh Food to Go
- Fresh Take Crave Away
These products were sold with use-by dates ranging from April 22, 2025, to May 19, 2025. They were distributed in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Washington.
States Affected
The recalled foods were sold in hospitals, hotels, convenience stores, airports, and airlines across four states: Arizona, California, Nevada, and Washington. So far, illnesses have been reported only in California and Nevada.
Why Were These Foods Recalled?
The recall follows a Listeria outbreak that has been linked to Fresh & Ready Foods. In late 2023, 10 people in California and Nevada became ill and were hospitalized with Listeria infections.
The FDA was unable to identify the source at first, but in April 2025, routine inspections revealed Listeria in products from Fresh & Ready Foods. Testing confirmed the strain matched the one causing the outbreak.
What Should You Do?
If you have any of the recalled products, discard them immediately. Clean any surfaces they touched and watch for symptoms of Listeria infection, including fever, muscle aches, and headache.
Certain groups, such as pregnant people, those aged 65 and older, and those with weakened immune systems, are at a higher risk of serious illness. Seek medical help if you experience symptoms after consuming these products.
