A woman from Fife says steroid creams she used for decades to manage eczema have left her skin damaged and in constant pain.
Karyn Flett, 54, from Thornton, began using topical steroids at age 10 to treat her eczema. For most of her life, she relied on repeat prescriptions to keep the condition under control.
However, since stopping the creams three years ago, Karyn says her symptoms have become much worse. She is now suffering from topical steroid withdrawal (TSW), a condition that has caused her skin to become raw, cracked, and oozing.
“They’ve ruined my life,” Karyn said, describing how the long-term use of the creams has affected her health and quality of life.
