Alix Earle, 24, has been honest about her battle with acne and her journey toward self-acceptance. Speaking on WSJ. Magazine’s digital series The One on May 22, Earle shared how celebrity Kendall Jenner’s openness about her own acne helped her feel more comfortable discussing her skin issues.
“I remember that resonated with me so much when I was younger,” Earle said. “When I started dealing with really bad cystic acne, it was the last thing I wanted to post about. I was embarrassed and scared at first, but being open about it actually kickstarted my success.” She added that she now tries to be realistic about filters and Photoshop, believing honesty goes a long way.
Earle regularly updates her followers on her acne journey. She even posts close-up clips showing her breakouts. Besides acne, she has been open about getting cosmetic procedures, including Botox, lip fillers, and breast augmentation at age 21. “If there is something you want to do for yourself, then do it. Don’t care about what others think,” she said on TikTok in January 2023, celebrating the anniversary of her surgery. She revealed she got 275 ccs of saline but wished she had “done a little bit more.”
Her candidness comes from a desire to set realistic beauty standards. “I don’t want to set an unrealistic standard,” Earle explained in the interview. She also shared that she wished she had known others with similar skin struggles when she was younger. Since opening up, she says many fans have related to her story.
Earle added, “I meet people in real life who come to me with tears in their eyes, saying something I said helped them. That truly makes it all worth it.”
