Television personality Olivia Attwood has issued a stark warning about the widespread use of unregulated injectable cosmetic treatments in the UK, calling it a “national issue” and describing the growing anti-ageing industry as “dystopian.”
The 34-year-old former Love Island star, who now fronts the documentary series Price of Perfection, is using her platform to shed light on the cosmetic procedures that are gaining popularity despite a lack of transparency and medical understanding. The second season of her ITV series focuses on injectables used for weight loss, including a product known as Lemon Bottle Fat Dissolving.
In an interview with MailOnline, Attwood expressed concern over the number of people undergoing treatments without knowing what substances are being injected. “When you actually ask what’s in them, they don’t have the answer,” she said. “At worst, these things are dangerous. At best, it’s just salt and water – and you’re wasting your money. Either way, people deserve to know what they’re putting into their bodies.”
Lemon Bottle Fat Dissolving claims to contain Vitamin B2 and other natural ingredients designed to boost fat metabolism. It is marketed as a minimally painful and low-swelling treatment, costing up to £250 per session. However, Attwood said that in filming her documentary, she found that even some clinicians administering the product were unable to clearly identify its contents. “It was a double-edged sword,” she explained. “We had to tell that story, but it didn’t look great when professionals couldn’t answer basic questions.”
Attwood’s exploration of these treatments comes amid rising public interest in increasingly advanced cosmetic procedures. Commenting on the transformation of public figures like Kris Jenner, she acknowledged the rapid development of techniques such as facelifts, fat grafting, and stem cell therapy. “It’s exciting, but also dystopian. The pace of change in the anti-ageing industry is staggering, and there are no limits to what we could see in the next 10 years.”
Attwood has long been open about her own cosmetic journey, revealing that she has undergone several procedures, including lip fillers, veneers, Botox, and chin liposuction. While she stands by her decisions, she admitted some regrets. “I went too big with my first boob job and also with my lips,” she said.
The reality star also spoke candidly about why she chose to alter her appearance. “As a young woman at that time, I was unhappy with what I was naturally given,” she explained.
Attwood, who has more than two million followers on social media, urged young women to think critically about cosmetic enhancements. She warned against being influenced by celebrities or social media trends. “The Kardashians live in a world where their appearance is everything. They’re photographed constantly and likely have insecurities of their own,” she said. “It’s important to step away from Instagram and remember that most people don’t look like that.”
Her message to teenagers considering cosmetic work was clear: “Don’t do anything just because it’s fashionable. Ask yourself: Am I doing this for me, or because I want to look like someone else? That’s a hard question, but it’s one we need to ask.”
