The Purist, a skincare brand founded by local entrepreneur Melissa Fenton, has won Bronze at the 2025 Free From Skincare Awards for its Supreme Night Serum. The product was praised for its natural ingredients and impressive results. This achievement adds to a series of recent awards for the small business, which also earned seven honors at the 2025 Beauty Shortlist Awards, including Best Cleansing Oil and Best Massage Oil. The company previously won UK Plant-Based Personal Care Product of the Year at the Business Awards UK 2024.
Melissa Fenton creates all products in small, fresh batches at her base in North Somerset. She expressed gratitude for the recognition and the positive feedback from customers and testers, noting how rewarding it is to know the products help people feel confident in their skin.
The Supreme Night Serum, handmade with botanical oils and soothing ingredients, received high praise from independent testers. Comments included its ability to outperform well-known brands, provide immediate improvement, soothe and hydrate dry skin, and deliver a glowing, smooth appearance. Testers also complimented its pleasant rose scent and rich texture.
Melissa’s journey began at home, where she struggled with skin issues worsened by menopause and chemotherapy. Frustrated by the number of synthetic ingredients in commercial skincare, she started making her own products using pure, organic plant oils. She saw rapid improvements in her skin’s condition and was encouraged by positive responses from friends, family, and beauty professionals. This led her to turn her personal remedy into a business.
The Purist now offers a complete line of plant-based, cruelty-free skincare products, including cleansers, body scrubs, serums, and oils, all handmade locally in Clevedon. Melissa described the brand as “nature’s best-kept secret” and thanked supporters for helping reach this exciting milestone.
